πŸ€“πŸ™ˆπŸ’• of course do I remember that, born in 1941.

Do you remember life before the internet?

Was there life (before internet) ??

Some funnies:

*in the 1960’s: ONE US $ was Dutch guilders (Ngl) 3.60. I earned Ngl. 350 per month (as a Dutch airline cabin attendant).

Which meant: going to the USA privately, was really unaffordable. Buying stuff there: unaffordable.

*A pair of high-heeled shoes: in a fancy shop on Fifth Avenue NEW YORK: $350!!πŸ€“. In PARIS, by comparison: chique, the latest: NGL 115 (in French francs) – more affordable, and more upbeat too.

*I am a EUROPEAN – and very happy/grateful some US chaps invented Internet, the World Wide Web, all that great technology we have NOW enabling me to communicate globally: tack tack: and: either published or in someone’s ELECTRONIC mailbox.

*And able to BUY eBooks, fully automated – with 1 click.πŸ’•πŸ₯°

God bless πŸ™ πŸ₯°

My Maternal Lineage: Great-grandparents and their offspring: The family PRINS from AALTEN, a tiny village near the German Border. Photo: 100 years ago.
This is Mrs. Willy Holmes-Spoelder: BENELUX General Manager HKTDC. Background: skyline HONG KONG.
(I worked for HK – 1967/1989)
Not yet Internet, everything by personal appointment/visit, pen/paper, LANDLINE, good old-fashioned MAIL, and TELEX.
This is AMSTERDAM.
In the distance: The RIJKSMUSEUM (REMBRANDT, & other famous Dutch masters). And a typical Amsterdam canal. That has NOT CHANGED: to do, to see.
1961/65: bottom left: me, Willy SPOELDER, (not yet married to HOLMES). The plane: a DAKOTA (DC3), now in musea. Capacity: 28/32 pax. (not suitable to cross the Atlantic in one hop)
This is me: first birthday: 7th May, 1942. And that little kid: did not know how it would be now: 2024. Isn’t life funny, eh?

Internet is unavoidable, love or hate it.

Remembering before: I can do that!

But soon: most adults never shall know how life used to be. Unless of course they go LIVE *off the grid*, for fun.πŸ™ˆπŸ’ž
