Are you patriotic? What does being patriotic mean to you?
Being *patriotic* for someone with a certain nationality/citizenship is rather subjective though. Also quite complicated, in my opinion.
In my case: I am Dutch, happy to have been BORN in The Netherlands, specially in AMSTERDAM!! Even happier I come from great DUTCH ancestors, with a Dutch lineage both parents, traced back at least 400 years, all of them: hardworking, law-abiding Dutch citizens, mostly craftsmen, farmers.
So, that really sits in my blood, my genes. And of that I am proud. It feels good.
Being *patriotic* like for instance USA citizens know: is a feeling totally alien to me.
I live outside The Netherlands, I follow global news daily, NOT always proud of what The Dutch do these days, DOMESTIC politics specially!
Really proud, though when I read, recently: The Netherlands is now the #1 world leader, with having installed SOLAR ENERGY: subsidized by the Dutch Government, to use for industry and normal citizens, heating factories, their homes, replacing: coal, and earth-gas. Wow!
Note: when I really do feel patriotic: (always did) 🥰🤸🏂, when Dutch sportsmen & -women win their *medals* in The Olympic Games, The European & World championships. Stand there, sing The Dutch National Anthem.
And doubly patriotic 💕: indeed yes: when The Dutch SOCCER TEAM arrives at The European and/or The World Champion FINALS, and become #1. (Watching it on TV.)
🙏💞
